Wearing hearing aids in both ears
In the majority of cases when an individual has a hearing loss it affects both ears together. Wearing a hearing aid in one ear will help in many situations; however research has shown that wearing hearing aids in both ears significantly improves performance and the users’ quality of life.
The reason we have two ears is to pick out the direction of sounds, however a hearing loss disrupts this. By fitting hearing aids in both ears it helps restore our ability to pick out where sounds come from, and therefore helps to improve our ability to hear well in groups or noisy environments.
Fitting hearing aids in both ears also gives a more natural sensation of sound and improved sound quality.
